Equipment
Steps
1. Boil water in a kettle and let it cool down for 1-2 minutes to around 200°F (93°C), or slightly off boiling.
2. Weigh out 20 grams of coffee beans and grind them to a medium-fine consistency.
3. Place the V60 dripper on top of your mug, and insert a V60 filter into the dripper. Rinse the filter with hot water to remove any papery taste and to preheat the dripper and mug. Discard the rinse water.
4. Add the ground coffee to the center of the filter and gently shake the dripper to level the coffee bed.
5. Start the timer and pour about 40 grams of water over the coffee, making sure to saturate all of the grounds.
6. Let the coffee bloom for 30-45 seconds, allowing the gases to escape and the coffee to "bloom".
7. Begin pouring water in a circular motion, starting from the center and moving outwards in concentric circles. Try to maintain a steady pour rate and keep the water level above the coffee bed, but not overflowing the dripper.
8. Aim to pour around 300 grams of water in total, or to reach a total brew time of 2-3 minutes.
9. Once you've finished pouring, let the coffee drip through the filter until the dripper is empty.
10. Discard the used filter and coffee grounds. Enjoy your delicious cup of coffee!
